In 2016 I bought some handmarbled paper from the oldest paper store in Florence, where I met the 6th generation owner from the family who founded it in 1863!  It is Giulio Giannini & Sons (https://www.giuliogiannini.com) near the Pitti Palace.  I didn't know what I would use the paper for when I bought it, but now I do!  It is perfect for making one-of-a-kind jewelry!

These lightweight and comfortable earrings are made from cutouts of the paper.  I matched the sides for tone and pattern, but each section of the large sheet of paper is unique because this is handmade with ink floating on oil.   The second photo is of the reverse side of the earrings.   I've resined both sides for a glossy sheen.

These earrings have a reversible gold-plated lever back earwire.  Simply slip the earring & bail up out of the bottom loop of the earwire, turn it around and slip it back on.  Two looks in one -- magic!

The tiny ice pick bails and reversible leverback earwires are gold-plated brass.
